The New Museum in New York has given unprecedented recognition to the Brooklyn-based Kenyan artist Wangechi Mutu for her twenty-five-year creative career. The entire exhibition hall is only used to display her over 100 representative works of art, including collages, installations, sculptures and videos. Mutu is one of the most high-profile artists under the trend of contemporary Afrofuturism. Her large-scale bronze sculptures in the cyber-style are very eye-catching in major biennials. Feminist artist Mutu, whose fluidity and grotesqueness are never limited to specific themes and mediums. She combined overarching elements like folklore, mythology and history to sublime the neglected under the contemporary shadows.
